Its usually one of the simplest of geometric shapes. But for the average home builder or renovator choosing and purchasing floor tiles can be quite daunting.

There are standard textures, shapes and sizes but under the surface it starts to get a little complicated.

Before you visit a tiles showroom in Adelaide it would be good if you have a little insight into the wide world of tiles. Don’t make a decision in the heat of the moment! Be well informed.

Here are some fundamental questions you need to address in your own mind:

1. The area to be tiled. This is important because it will be directly related to your cost and budget allocation. It will also help the retailer to determine the best solution for you. This can be in a practical sense (tiles range in size and need to fit) and a design sense – if you have two metres to tile it may not be good design to use tiles that are 500mm square.

4. Installation. This is big! You really need a respected and trusted tiler. But if you are doing yourself ask about the type of adhesive is best and you should then factor that into your budget. Some tiles are more expensive to adhere than others.
